Brent A. Smith, Esq. is a seasoned personal injury litigator who brings 25 years of trial experience to Tony S. Kalogerakos, Esq.-Injury Lawyers. He has tried more than 200 cases over the course of his career. Prior to joining Tony S. Kalogerakos, Esq.-Injury Lawyers, Smith was associated with the Brustin and Lundblad firm.

“Tough cases are what I grew up on; the cases that other lawyers don’t do well with, I get results,” Smith said. As an example, he cited the seven-figure result he obtained last year for the family of a blind woman who was killed when she accidentally wandered onto a live train track. Although other lawyers didn’t expect him to do much with the case, he discovered that the train engineer disobeyed a reduction in speed signal that would have allowed him to slow the train and avoid hitting the woman.

“Serendipitous” best describes the first time Smith met Tony S. Kalogerakos, Esq, the founder and managing partner of his namesake firm. It was then that the two seasoned personal injury attorneys discovered that Kalogerakos had clerked for a law school friend of Smith’s. The two men hit it off immediately: they share a commitment to ferocious advocacy for their clients.

When not trying cases, Smith and his daughter, now a freshman majoring in Economics at the University of Wisconsin, continue their tradition of riding rollercoasters around the world. They have ridden two of the world’s oldest rollercoasters: one in Copenhagen (the inspiration for Walt Disney’s theme park design), and the other in Oslo. So far, they’ve visited more than 20 countries and ridden rollercoasters in 15 of them.

Smith earned his JD from John Marshall Law School (now the UIC John Marshall Law School); as an undergrad at UIC, he double-majored in Political Science and English with a minor in History. He holds licenses to practice in the State of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.
